ISO/IEC 646 †

• 7 bit の文字コード
• ISO [International Organization for Standardization] が策定
• ASCII をベースに英語以外の言語に対応したもの
• 基本となる文字以外に、各国ごとに定義可能なコードがある

ISO/IEC 8859 †

• 8 bit の文字コード
• ISO [International Organization for Standardization] と IEC [International Electrotechnical Commission] が合同で策定

JIS X 0201 †

• 7 bit、もしくは 8 bit の文字コード
• JIS [Japanese Industrial Standards] が策定
• Shift_JIS、EUC-JP の一部となっている
• 7 bit
  • ISO/IEC 646 の日本ローカル版
  • \ が ¥、~ が ‾ になっている
• 8 bit
  • 7 bit に加えてカタカナを定義したもの (いわゆる半角カナ)
